Whyteleafe Primary School has an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) comprising of parents and staff from the school who meet to discuss and arrange social, educational and sporting activities. We are fortunate that we have a very dedicated team focused on raising funds for the school, which we are able to achieve thanks to the ongoing support of the parents, staff and pupils alike.

The chosen activities are arranged primarily to raise money to be used for the benefit of the children of Whyteleafe, but to also build links between the school, staff and parents/carers. Activities include school fairs, disco’s, film nights, carol concerts, comedy nights and grandparents' tea party.

In the last year we have provided SmartTables for Reception, scientific equipment, flip video cameras for each class, playground marking and equipment, sports kits and interactive whiteboards.

All parents and carers are automatically members of the PTA and we do encourage you to get involved in our activities - if you can't make the half termly meetings then please do try and volunteer to help out at one of the many events throughout the year.

If you have any information, suggestions or comments that you think will be useful, please do not hesitate to contact us by email.

What is the PTA?

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is where the parents and teachers of the school come together to improve and enrich our children’s time at Whyteleafe School.

As a parent you are automatically a member of the PTA. It is not an exclusive club. Anyone who has a suggestion or wants to help will be warmly welcomed.

What do we do?

  • Raise funds to help Whyteleafe School provide more equipment for our children
  • Help run events that enrich our children’s time at Whyteleafe School
  • Help run events that bring our school community closer together

Last year saw parents, teachers and the local community helping with events that included School discos, Film nights, Christmas Fair, Christmas plays, Grandparents tea party, Carol Concert, Adult Comedy Night and the Summer Fair.

How do our children benefit?

The money raised from the events go towards helping our children and the School. Last year we raised around £14,000.  This enabled the PTA to help fund the new Multi Games area and pay for the Mathletics online learning, Reading Eggs and interactive whiteboards.

What can I do?

There are so many different events during the year and there are many different ways to help. It’s a chance to share your skills for the good of school:

  • serving teas and coffees
  • helping at Sports day
  • helping on a fair stall for an hour
  • washing donated teddies
  • putting up gazebos or setting up tables
  • supervising at discos
  • selling ice creams or cakes at breaktime or after school

You'll see a request for volunteers come out in the school’s regular ParentMail newsletters. Your class rep will also remind you about volunteering opportunities.

If you want to get more involved, please just come along to one of the regular PTA meetings (see the school calendar on the website). We discuss past events, share ideas and plan new events. It gives you a chance to contribute your thoughts and get involved with organizing an event.

You can contact us at the PTA email address

Keep an eye on the school ParentMail where you'll see regular PTA emails and newsletters.
