Following conversion to Academy status as a member of GLF Schools, the governance of the school is delegated by the Board of GLF Schools to a Local Governing Body. The LGB comprises 9 members, and may also co-opt  Associate Members.
The Headteacher is automatically a member of the Local Governing Body.
Parent Members are elected by the parents and carers of pupils at the school. At conversion, the two longest serving Parent Governors continue for the remainder of their current term of office.
Staff Members are elected by staff at the school. At conversion, the two longest serving Staff Governors continue for the remainder of their current term of office.
Ordinary Members are appointed by the Local Governing Body or by GLF Schools.

508006161.004821Ian West   -  Chair of Governors

Ian West has been a Parent Governor at Whyteleafe since 2010.  He lives in Whyteleafe and is a family man who cares about the local community.  All of his children have/are attending Whyteleafe and he views his role as a Governor as a way to repay the school for the education it provides to our area.  He currently holds the position of Chair of Governors and outside of Whyteleafe School he is a successful IT professional working for a large engineering firm with roots in Surrey.




Rev Timothy Goode BA Hons (Music), BA Hons (Theology) PGCE

Rev Timothy Goode has been a governor since 2013 and the governor responsible for ensuring the delivery of SEN provision throughout the school since 2014. He is also a governor at St Peter and St Paul's C of E Infant School in Chaldon. He is the Vicar of St Luke's Whyteleafe and St Peter and St Paul's Chaldon and the Southwark Diocese Disability Advisor.  Before he was ordained in 2009 he was a full time teacher. He was a music classroom teacher at St Philomena's Comprehensive School in Carshalton from 1991-1995 and Director of Music at Homefield Preparatory School from 1995 - 2007.



Carol Everingham 

Carol Everingham joined as a Governor in January 2016.  She is a speech and language therapist and has worked independently and for the local NHS service in a range of educational settings.  She was Head of Therapy at a special school and a member of the Senior Management Team.  She is also a Governor at a dyslexia school and has been a Trustee of a national charity for people with language and communication difficulties.  She was impressed by the high level of educational standards at Whyteleafe School when she visited, and the provision for children with special needs.  She was enthusiastic about being asked to join the Governing Body so that she could share her knowledge and support and promote the school.

Stuart Wilson

Stuart joined the governing board in March 2016 and has a child in Year 1.  He is Commercial Director for a British manufacturing company and hopes to share his business experience and skills with the leadership team of Whyteleafe school..  Being his first post as a Governor, Stuart is keen in developing his knowledge of the educational system through regular visits and training so as to appreciate the challenges faced and hopefully provide advice and guidance so that all pupils can achieve their best.






John Williams - Head Teacher

John is the new Head Teacher here at Whyteleafe School. He has worked in numerous schools across 4 different local authorities and has been a governor in 4 different schools.





Megan Macaskill

Megan joined as a governor in September 2016. She has taught at Whyteleafe School for 4 years and is currently a Year 6 teacher.  As a class teacher, she has   a solid insight and understanding of the expectations, challenges and needs of Whyteleafe School. She is keen to get more involved in supporting Whyteleafe and contributing to its continued improvement and success.

Mark Beach 

Mark joined as a governor in March 2017. He has one child at the school in year 1. Mark works for a consultancy firm in the City of London and is keen to merge the skills learned in the corporate world with the governing body to support and challenge the leadership team to provide the best education for all children attending the school.  As Mark's first post as a governor, he is keen to understand the education system to effectively offer guidance for improvement


Clerk to Governors

Jette Wainwright

Jette has been clerk to governors at Whyteleafe for four years, and became a clerk after being a governor at her children’s Junior School.  She was in post for five years, during which time she was Chair of Children & Learning Committee, Link Governor, and Vice Chair of Governors.  She has been a clerk for almost six years and has gradually increased the number of schools she works for to six.  All six are in the primary sector - The Earlswood Federation, Salfords School, Warlingham Village Primary School,  Marden Lodge, and Hillcroft as well as Whyteleafe.  She regularly attends training to ensure that the advice and support she provides to her governing teams is up to date.  Last year she successfully completed the nationally recognised Accredited Clerk qualification. Prior to this Jette was Marketing Co-ordinator in a large actuarial firm
