Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEN/D) at Whyteleafe School

We have an inclusive ethos at Whyteleafe School and have high aspirations for all of our learners. We are very proud to be hold the Inclusion Quality Mark and to be recognised as an Inclusion Centre of Excellence which recognises the excellent work we do in supporting our pupils with needs that are additional to or different from their peers. We are 1 of only 2 schools in Surrey to be awarded Inclusion Centre of Excellence status.

Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Assessment Process 2017

On 21st February 2017 we were reassessed for the Inclusion Quality Mark and the assessor, Pauline Roberts, was extremely impressed with our school’s inclusive ethos. For her full report please click here:

Here is a selection of her comments from our IQM report:

‘Pupils were enthusiastic, happy and motivated and gave very positive views of their school. Pupils clearly enjoy learning and are very keen to talk about why they like their school and its staff. They explained how the teachers encourage them and make learning exciting.’

‘Teaching and support staff are valued for their skills: quality first teaching demonstrates excellent practice and teachers are continually reviewing and further developing their skills to meet the diverse needs of all children’.

‘There is a happy, friendly atmosphere throughout the school and all pupils were thoroughly engaged in every lesson. Lessons are interesting and challenging for everyone and there are many imaginative and exciting activities planned for pupils’.
