This Term’s Focus for Governors
We hold an Annual Conference in January looking at a number of areas of School life through presentations from School staff and discussion of the impact of the changes being made. This year’s Conference included informative presentations fro School staff on how children are encouraged to learn to use spoken language in preparation for learning written English, on how analytical and creative thinking skills are fostered, and on how the scientific method is introduced to pupils through exploring living things, materials and physical processes. We also explored the new Learning Platform which is being introduced to the School to provide parents and pupils with access to learning materials via the internet and had a refresher course on Safeguarding of children.
During March the Governors will spend a day in the School. Our visit will include observing lessons, so allowing us to see in action the School’s approach to the topics discussed at our Conference.
Parent Governor Vacancies
Sarah Kavanagh finishes her four year term as a Parent Governor this term and has indicated that she will not be standing for re-election. I would like to record my thanks to Sarah for all her hard work on the Governing Body. My own four year term is also nearing its end, so we will seek to fill both posts this term. Details of the process to offer your service as a Parent Governor will be published by the School, and if there are more candidates than vacancies, an election will be held after half term.
Awards
The Governors record their congratulations to the School on achieving the new Financial Management Standard in Schools and in achieving the Inclusion Quality mark. The School has achieved so many awards recently that the letterhead will have to be re-designed to fit them all in! Congratulations and thanks to all the staff involved.
